Many people feel apprehensive about visiting the dentist. Dr. Chagger and our team understand dental fear, so we have established a safe, relaxed environment for our patients. We use the latest technology, like intraoral cameras, chairside monitors, and digital X-rays, to help us make accurate diagnoses and explain procedures to our patients. During treatment, Dr. Chagger may administer nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, for your comfort.
Patients who suffer from dental anxiety may want to consider IV (intravenous) sedation. Dr. Chagger has extensive training and experience in the administration of anesthesia. Before the procedure, Dr. Chagger will review your medical history and discuss your options.
IV sedation allows us to tailor the sedation to your specific needs. Depending on the amount of sedative administered, you will feel extremely relaxed, drowsy, or you may fall asleep completely. Typically, patients remain conscious and respond to questions but do not feel extreme nervousness or discomfort. You will probably remember little about the appointment afterwards. We have successfully treated severely anxious people with IV sedation. Because of the lingering effects from the medicine, you will need a friend or relative to take you home.
Sedation dentistry is not for everyone, but for those who have been avoiding getting their teeth fixed because of fear, paranoia or discomfort this method can be extremely beneficial.
So if you are ready to embrace healthy teeth and gums, relax, with sedation dentistry at Chagger Dental, you will drift away into dreamland and wake up with a sparkling, new smile.
